Campus outreach initiatives are led by the program’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach Coordinators, or DIOCs.
Writing Fellows Outreach
Writing Fellows On Demand
In Spring 2022, the Writing Fellows program launched Writing Fellows Open Hours. Spearheaded by 2021-2022 DIOC Allison Singleton, the program stations fellows across campus, where they offer student writers feedback on quick writing questions, without writers needing to make an appointment. Campus outreach is an integral part of being a Writing Fellow. Through this work, the program furthers its mission of promoting inclusive, equitable writing approaches across campus by increasing opportunities for the student community to engage in meaningful dialogue about their writing experiences and practices.
In Spring 2025, Writing Fellows Leadership revived the following initiative through Writing Fellows On Demand. This semester, Writing Fellows will continue producing equitable approaches to writing by holding walk-in appointments during the Reading Period (April 28–May 2, 2025) in the Science Library 5th Floor Lobby during the following schedule:
Monday, April 28: 12–4 PM
Tuesday, April 29: 12–4 PM
Wednesday, April 30: 12–4 PM
Thursday, May 1: 12–5 PM (Please stop by on 5/1 from 2–5 PM for refreshments and snacks with the Writing Center!)
Friday, May 2: 10 AM–2 PM
All undergraduate students are welcome to stop by the Science Library 5th Floor Lobby for “on-demand” writing help for assignments, brainstorming/outlining, projects, reports, and essays across all disciplines. We’re more than happy to offer immediate constructive feedback and advice based on your assignment, so feel free to stop by with your current work-in-progress.
