Writing Fellows Outreach

Campus outreach is an integral part of being a Writing Fellow. Through this work, the program furthers its mission of promoting inclusive, equitable writing approaches across campus by increasing opportunities for the student community to engage in meaningful dialog about their writing experiences and practices.

Campus outreach initiatives are led by the program’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Outreach Coordinators, or DIOCs.

Outreach

This academic year, the Writing Fellows Program is implementing several measures to increase outreach.

  • Professional Development: The DIOC will be holding a Professional Development workshop for all fellows on centering diversity and inclusivity in our fellowing practices. Following each fellowing cycle, Head Fellows will hold a workshop on centering diverse and inclusive writing practices in the context of the specific class and assignments. Outreach doesn't just mean recruiting new fellows; it also entails how we interact with our fellowees and continuously reflecting on centering diversity and inclusivity in these interactions.
  • Affinity Space Visits: In the spring, the DIOC will be reaching out to different affinity groups to offer to give a 10-minute presentation on what the Writing Fellows Program is and how to get involved. Feel free to email indigo_mudbhary@brown.edu if you would be interested in this.
