Lauren Roussel

Sophomore Concentrating in Mathematical Physics

Biography

Hello! I’m Lauren Roussel, a current sophomore studying Physics on the Mathematical Physics track. I have taken mostly introductory and intermediate math and physics courses thus far, but have also explored history, education, and Hispanic studies classes at Brown. I am the Vice President of the Association of Women in Mathematics here, so I often work on inclusion in math or science spaces. Outside of academic pursuits, I play, coach, and referee soccer; volunteer with the Red Cross for blood donation; and recently worked with bluShift Aerospace to obtain proof of concept for my original design of a cold gas propulsion system!

Within the Problem-Solving Fellows, I work as a Fellow and as the Head of Marketing for the fellows. I am currently the youngest fellow in the program, so I can provide a current perspective into first-year and undeclared student experiences. Additionally, I have a particular passion for improving teaching and learning within math, which I explored a great deal in UNIV 1110, so I am always thrilled to work as a Fellow on math-related projects. That being said, I am excited to work on designing lessons, teaching philosophies, and/or general course development and design, regardless of the type of class. Please reach out to me if you’re interested in working together!
